Last board from my beloved Porthleven...

Well this week marks the end of an era...I'm finally leaving the place I've lived in and loved for many years to start a new adventure in Australia. Porthleven has come to be a very special place full of amazing memories and the best friends a man could ever wish for. This board is my last from the village kindly financed by Tris at Homeblown. It's stretched me to my current limits and yes, it's for me...6'6"x21"x2 3/4". Its a stringerless PU superlight blank with carbon perimeter stringers, wrapped in 2 oz cerex  and single 4oz glass on the bottom and 2 oz cerex and 2x4oz on the deck with an extra 4oz stomp patch just for good measure, all vac bagged with epoxy. She's also sporting rail grooves to help control the flex pattern, exposed cork deck and Futures Controllers. I took it out this week to christen it and enjoy my last surf on our beloved reef. Amazing!

Carbon meets cork...

Here's the finished carbon fibre shooter...exposed cork deck so she's waxless forever...super strong, super light and supersonic. Needless to say she's turning heads in the village. Ride report to follow!

Techno, techno, techno...Carbon composite

All gone a bit rocket science in the thirdshade den of iniquity ..all about vacuum bagging composites....and there's plenty more exotic fabrics planned for the next build...keep an out for the astral journey space cadets...

Warming up?

Just scrolling through a few images and this one reminded me that Spring is well and truly just around the corner... can't wait to loose that hood again...me in the thick of it on a 7'10" singlefin at our beloved reef in Porthleven. (photo courtesy of Ben Selway)
